The Civil Wars
Now I am not usually much of a country music person but the 60 second performance of The Civil Wars on last Sunday's Grammy Awards to me stole the show, sit down Taylor Swift and watch how it is really done.

Fun. We Are Young.
They covered this song on Glee, and apparently a lot of people are talking about that version but sometimes the best comes from the makers themselves. Here is Fun with Janelle Monae with a catchy little thing called We Are Young, the acoustic version.

Somebody That I Used To Know
Realized I haven't posted any tunes for awhile. Really loving this song from Goyte, an artist out of Australia, seems to be channeling a bit of The Police when it comes to the chorus. Super catchy and if you've been through a break up you can probably relate!

Kiss Cam
This super infectious song is my current ring tone so I get really excited every time my phone rings because I love this song so much.
I also love the simplicity of the video, makes me think of summer as a teenager when you didn't have to work and the days just felt so long.
Happy sunshine-y tuesday!

Feel Good Friday: Baby Penguin and Double Dream Hands
Hi Mes Amis,
Here's a couple cute videos to make you smile... the first features a baby penguin getting tickled.
If you just died from the cuteness of that statement, I totally get it. I did too. Just wait, the video is even better. The penguin (named Cookie for god sake... seriously, I'm going to die from the cuteness) starts getting tickled about a minute into this clip. Soooooo cute! Cute coma taking over!
This second video is called "Double Dream Hands" and it's been around a while, but man is this guy's enthusiasm infectious - even though it's corny, you gotta give the dude props for putting himself out there. The last video features "double dream hands" reset to the song "soldja boy". Ah what did we ever do before YouTube?
What are you gonna do to make yourself smile this weekend? Don't forgot - Mother's Day is on Sunday - so make your Mom smile too.

Ready for The Weeknd

no not this weekend, The Weeknd! This is my week to post about music apparently, but this one is too good for me to wait to post.
Garnering some major, major buzz is 20 year old Abel Tesfaye from Toronto. After having listened to his entire album House of Balloons (which by the way you can download for FREE here ) I can see why. I kind of have a major crush on these smooth, sexy tunes. Having just been released on March 21, 2011 The Weeknd has recieved big endorsements from fellow Torontonian Drake and also reviewed by Rolling Stone magazine as an artist to watch out for.
The Weeknd is not just R&B slow jams though, his influences range from Aliyah and The Dream to Souxsie and The Banshees to who knows what else, all combined House of Balloons is dark, mysterious, lush and sexy...like you are going to want to put this on and run and find someone to make out with kind of sexy....I'm addicted.

You Give Love A Bad Name!
Yeah, that's right! This is where I'll be tonight. Singing along to all the classic Bon Jovi hits! I honestly hope they stick to their old stuff because I don't know anything else.
And yeah, I wore my "liquid leggings" today specifically to feel a bit more rocker.
Happy Friday!

Flying Solo - New Starts
Bonjour amis!
Happy Friday! This week has been a busy one - my internship at a local radio station is all kinds of awesome. I got to write some fun copy this week, and give some deserving kids instruments that our listeners donated - heart warming stuff.
Tonight's plans are yummy Indian fare and a wicked concert. If you're in the Vancouver area - come out and do the same! Burnaby's Bombay Bhel is understated and tasty - but it's changing hands next week - which might be okay considering this is one of 4 locations, but why risk it - for guaranteed excellence, go in before then if you can.
If you feel like some Friday night rocking out - Shore 104.3 (shameless plug) is presenting Leeroy Stagger & The Wilflowers with Zaac Pick at St. James Hall tonight at 8pm. Tix are only $20 and it'll be fun!
Other possible plans on the weekend agenda include further exploring of Granville Island (industrial zone turned food/craft wonderland) and maybe testing a Giada De Laurentiis recipe - I'll post it next week if all turns out well.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Maybe try seeing a familiar place in a new light - you might catch some fun surprises!
Here's to surprises, and love - because why not?
Bon weekend

Adele - 21
I am mesmerized by Adele. She has such an immense talent, one of the most captivating out there right now, yet she seems to genuine and humbled by all the praise. Her new album, 21, was released today, and if you enjoyed her last album then I would be highly surprised if you did not fall head over heels in love with this one.
Here she is performing "Someone Like You" at the Brit Awards. Enjoy!

Happy, Shiny Tuesday Song by Guster
Hey Peeps!
Hope your Tuesday is going splendiferously! If it is or if it's not, I hope the following song makes you smile. It's a boppy tune from Guster called "Do You Love Me". Think Paul Simon, meets Romantic Comedy, meets Christmas bells. Or don't think at all and just enjoy.

Oh, those dog gone days
This is my feel good song of the moment, I know it has been out since the summer but it just keeps popping up for me. First they sang it on Glee, then I danced like a maniac to it at my work Holiday party and then I decided it was the perfect new ring tone for my blackberry. Then I read Jenny's post and thought to myself, "my sister-friend needs this song!" so this is for you Jenny and anyone else who needs it, may I recommend having copius amounts of wine, turning the volume up real loud and dancing to your feet fall off? Hey, it worked for me!

In need of some new tunes!
This video made me remember how much I am itching for KOL to come out with a new album. Just the bits of the song that you hear in this clip sound just as good as their other stuff.
New song “Radioactive” hits the radio this Wednesday September 8th, album “Come around Sundown” to arrive October 19th. (www.kingsofleon.com).
