Ciao Bella

An American Girl in Italy - Ruth Orkin

As I have been mentioning, I am off to Italy, my parents have kindly decided to take my brother and I on a trip to see the village my mom is from, among other places. I am looking forward to seeing this dusty little mountain town I've heard so many stories about, meeting the family still there that I have never met, revisiting the wonders of Rome and not to mention the shopping, food and wine, and enjoying a few lazy days at the beach.

So this will probably be my last post for a few weeks, hang in there loyal readers, I know we have been a bit sporadic lately with our posts!

Morrocan Me Crazy

So I am off to Italy very soon (woo hoo) but after seeing these amazing finds that Sandra from 5 inch and up scored in Morocco I wonder if I could fit in a side trip. So great for summer and so great with the all white outfit and stellar tan!

Call Me Cupcake

Hey hey mes amis!

Sugar filled fantasies - who doesn't love them? Float away on a contact sugar high with these incredible cakes and desserts by Call Me Cupcake.

Best admired on a full stomach, this site is one of the most inspiring baking sites I've come across in a while. Love the ombre pink cake, the dark-to-light progression is just so darn elegant! Note to self: attempt it soon. Also, I just like saying "ombre" - it makes me feel fancy.  :)

(Side note: what words make you feel fancy when you say them?)

Double side note: Which dream dessert would you attempt to make if you knew it wouldn't fail?

Enjoy

Su pinata es fantastico!

When I commit to a theme party, I commit! We had a Seis de Mayo party last week (soooo much cooler than Cinco de Mayo) complete with decor, cerveza, tamales and enough salsa to last a lifetime, and just because I wasn't already busy enough I knew I had to make a pinata.

I felt like a kid again with flour paste goo all over my hands, coloured tissue paper littering the table and a bag full of goodies to stuff inside, but I must admit it was a crowd pleaser!

Step 1: Papier mache the heck out of a balloon

Step 2: Lots of tissue paper circles

Step 3: Display, like a colourful pineapple!

Step 4: Destroy!

Feel Good Friday: Baby Penguin and Double Dream Hands

Hi Mes Amis,

Here's a couple cute videos to make you smile... the first features a baby penguin getting tickled.

If you just died from the cuteness of that statement, I totally get it. I did too. Just wait, the video is even better. The penguin (named Cookie for god sake... seriously, I'm going to die from the cuteness) starts getting tickled about a minute into this clip. Soooooo cute! Cute coma taking over!

This second video is called "Double Dream Hands" and it's been around a while, but man is this guy's enthusiasm infectious - even though it's corny, you gotta give the dude props for putting himself out there.  The last video features "double dream hands" reset to the song "soldja boy". Ah what did we ever do before YouTube?

What are you gonna do to make yourself smile this weekend? Don't forgot - Mother's Day is on Sunday - so make your Mom smile too.

Peek-a-boo

Hi Mes Amis!

Long time no write - I know! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, and I've got some cool news to share...

Yours truly, the slightly totally obsessed with recording her voice, and basically any excuse to get behind a microphone has been given a platform... a radio job!

Yup, I'm officially on the air reporting traffic every weekday afternoon on Shore 104.3FM.

Please read the following statement in a sing-song voice and picture a very awkward happy dance: They gave me a microphone, they gave me a microphone.

Heehee - I really love it! I've actually been doing the gig for a couple weeks, but just wanted to make sure I didn't wake up from some dream before sharing it with you.

I'm actually doing creative writing for the station as well as reporting traffic. It's a heck of a lot of responsibility, but dang it, if they give me that mic every afternoon I will do it! You can hear me 3 times every hour between 3pm-6pm, and if you're stuck behind a computer and want to listen to some cool jams (do people even say such things anymore?) you can hear the station online (www.shore104.com).

Thanks for sticking with this site while I've been m.i.a - and thanks to Jessy for carrying the extra writing burden!
